Dendy Sadler hand painted etching of "Right of Way" signed in pencil by both Sadler and James Dobie, who did the etching. No frame, a few crinkles in the paper along the edge - see photos. Otherwise the etching itself is in fabulous condition with beautiful colors. Etching is circa 1900.

About W. Dendy Sadler:

Walter Dendy Sadler (1854 – 1923) was an English painter from a market town in Surrey in southern England. At age 16 he decided to become a painter and enrolled for two years at Heatherly's School of Art in London, subsequently studying in Germany under Burfield and Wilhelm Simmler. He exhibited at the Dudley Gallery from 1872 and at the Royal Academy from the following year through to the 1890s. He painted contemporary people in domestic and daily life pursuits, showing them with comical expressions illustrating their greed, stupidity etc. His subjects were usually set in the late eighteenth or early nineteenth centuries with sentimental, romantic and humorous themes. A number of his paintings are in museum collections.

About James Dobie:

Victorian engraver and etcher of landscapes and genre. Born in Edinburgh, worked near London, exhibited etchings at the Royal Academy of Arts from 1885 to 1911. His work is on display at the British Museum. See less
