This is Exceptionally Nice - Very Rare Original Matching Pair of Authentic Antique American Cast Iron Figurative Horse Head Hitching … Read more This is Exceptionally Nice - Very Rare Original Matching Pair of Authentic Antique American Cast Iron Figurative Horse Head Hitching Post. Circa Early 20th Century. They are Very Heavy Cast - Each with a Approx. Weight of Over 9 Pounds. They Have Numerous Coats - Layers of Old White Paint that Does Obscure Some of the Details In the Casting. If you wanted to Restore Them to Bring Back Some of the Hidden Details the Proper Way would be To Have Them Professionally Sand Blasted to Remove the White Paint and Areas of Light Surface Rust. After That They Should be Primered and Painted to the Color of Your Choice. Note! that They can be Mounted - Attached to a Metal Pole or Each also has 2 Screw Holes at The Base So They Can Also be Attached - Flat Mounted to a Wooden Post ( See Photograph ). They are Very Good Condition - No Damage or Repairs to the Casting. Alternative Use Suggestion - They Would Also Work Very Well as Doorstops.
