This chair is a wonderful Victorian needlepoint fabric gentleman's arm chair in (I think) solid black walnut. This style dates back to the Civil War era of the 1860's to 1880's. It is a great example of Victorian furniture. It is covered in a dark green fabric with needlepoint flower designs on the seat and back, not petit-point, but needlepoint. There are some areas of the gold trim that are loose but I have not repaired them as I am not a professional. I do not know if it is original to the chair. The wood finish is dark walnut, it has big high-knuckle arms, an open arm style, balloon back, cabriolet legs, original brass casters on the front legs and carved finger grooves. The width across the arms is 25 1/2 inches, 40 1/2 inches from floor to top of back, 23 1/2 inches from floor to the top of arm, and 15 1/2 inches floor to the top of seat. It has only minor little nicks, dings and cracks for its age and is an absolutely beautiful chair for your home. (Please See Photos).
Please note that I indicated it was made in the United Slates but I do not know! The listing form would not allow “Unknown” as an answer!
