The lid is domed and the finial is flat and hexagonal. The body of the jar is columnar and ribbed at the bottom and the top. Pittsburgh glass founders opened their first 2 factories in 1797. By 1920, 80% of the glass produced in the U.S. came from the Pittsburgh area. There is a patent mark on the underside of this jar. It reads “Patent Aug 16 & 30 1866.” See less
