Dating from … more This original antique dining set is a true masterpiece of craftsmanship, featuring ornate carvings and superior quality workmanship. Dating from the 1920s or 1930s at the latest, it boasts a touch of Renaissance revival or Spanish revival design elements with a Chippendale style claw foot.

The geometric parqueted top of the table adds a unique and elegant touch, and the two draw leaves slide out from underneath the floating table top, making it easy to extend for larger dinner parties. The table's outstanding three-dimensional carved decorations include claw feet, floral accents, shell designs, and ornate curlicues. Even the bottom stretch features beautiful carving.

The table measures approximately 70 inches in length, with each of the two leaves measuring about 20 3/4 inches. The length with one leaf is about 90 3/4 inches, and with both leaves extended, it measures about 111 1/2 inches. The table's width is about 38 3/4 inches, and its height is 30 inches.

This set includes six beautiful ornate Chippendale-style dining chairs, two of which are armchairs and four are side chairs. Each chair features a carved flower surrounded by a shell crown on the back, with particularly well-done claw feet and a repeated shell motif on the knees. The backs and arms of the chairs have a nice curved shape. The chairs are upholstered in very old red vinyl or leather material.

The armchair height is about 40 1/2 inches, with a front width of about 24 inches and a depth of about 25 1/8 inches. The seat height is about 19 inches. The side chairs are about 40 1/2 inches in height, with a front width of about 20.5 inches, a depth of about 22 inches, and a seat height of about 19 inches.

This set has been professionally restored. The refinishing was done by hand stripping and hand sanding. Oil-based stain was used, which puts moisture back into the wood but requires more additional drying time than solvent-based stains. A series of sealers and lacquers were applied with hand sanding between the layers, and the final coat is a durable bar-top lacquer.

You can see the many years of honest wear and use that occurred before restoration. However, these details are part of the character that makes antiques special, and we chose to leave them. Material has been on these for a very long time, and they are in generally good condition, with some old marks and lines.
