I picked up this one-of-a-kind beautifully rustic wooden parquetry jardinière, with a jali-inspired trimmed border, at an art fair in Kansas City in the early 1990s. This beauty is handcrafted from a solid wood frame clad with parquetry-inspired wood squares, in contrasting colors and grains. The jali-inspired trimmed border incorporates the same colors and grains as the parquetry squares. It measures 11” x 9” x 9” H/W/D; 7” footed base width; weight 3 lbs.; stained finish trends toward the brown/mocha family with tobacco undertones (hues vary due to the assorted wood and woodgrain patterns). In excellent condition with age-appropriate wear. I have taken photos in the round of all four sides (see photos 4, 5, 6, 7) to show that each side in uniquely different yet complementary to the entire design. It has been used as a jardinière/planter full of faux foliage and also as a waste paper basket in one of our guest bedrooms in our previous home. A charming rustic accent to complement most any style, in any space!
