The box is a hinged back with inset chain to which to hold the top open, given the weight of the piece, as well as a felted interior , as well as the same felted protective barrier to the underside of box, in the same russet, burnish-orange coloration as the interior showcased herein. In great condition "only, some patina to the brass on the hinged back hardware, otherwise very well-maintained for era and use.
