Here is a quintessential example of the ancient American majolica process borrowed from the Etruscans. In vibrant, authentic colorways of the 1880's period of history, this piece is sure to complement a collection or serve as a starting point for a new aficionado of the craft. Incredibly life-like in its one-of-a-kind hand-made form and colorful yellow, pink, green and brown glaze, it is certainly an item to behold. The form is of a begonia leaf.
The glaze extends from top to underside.
The underside is embossed with the Griffen, Hill & Smith mark of Phoenixville, Pennsylvania.
Condition notes: please see photos for detail. There is a chip on the underside leaf tip that has been touched up at some point in its long life.
