1850's era pottery dinner plates produced in Staffordshire, England by Charles Meigh & Sons. The pattern is entitled 'Vermicelli' which speaks to the squiggle design but also incorporates an elegant rope and leaf motif in shades of deep purple and gold. Each plate is marked on the back with the pattern name and 'C M & S' as well as an impression of 'Improved Stone China'. There are also adhesive labels from an Atlanta Antique Store where the plates were purchased in the 1990's.
The plates are in good to fair condition with all plates showing signs of age including crazing. Two plates have hairline cracks as shown in photographs 10 and 12. Three of the plates show a grayish discoloration in crazed areas as shown in photographs 9 and 12. Due to the age and condition, these plates would best be used as decor.
Each plate measures 9.13" diameter x 1" tall.
