Created in China during the late Qing Dynasty period in the early years of the 20th century, this wooden document box features a domed lid opening thanks to a traditional brass lock to reveal a lacquered interior with nicely distressed patina. The box showcases a reddish brown lacquer as well as a dovetail construction. The sides present C-scroll handles allowing the piece to be moved more easily, while the plinth on which it is resting comprises of petite holes made for wooden sticks to be slid into for travel.
