Created in Japan during the 19th century, this porcelain plate features a delicate blue and white décor depicting an artistic and airy landscape in the center, surrounded by an abundance of geometric motifs. Our eyes are immediately drawn to the energetic dark blue lines making up the mountains and trees, while a discreet house is hidden behind an elegant tree. To the right, additional houses complete the ensemble. The rest of the composition however, contrasts beautifully with these serene scenes, by presenting a series of perfectly organized geometric motifs The plate's border is adorned by scenes alternating with flowers while the edge is scalloped.
