A pair of French “fin de siecle ” caricatures or grotesques. It was a time of caustic political and social commentary, and figures such as these were not uncommon. These metal statuettes wear period costumes. Their faces are typical of the caricatures depicted in cartoons of the era… exaggerated and comical.
These statuettes are in fair original condition. There is damage to the umbrella positioned behind one of them. The tip has been broken off. Please see photos for detail. Other than that, they show signs of wear consistent with their age.
