Large, mouth blown, studio glass vase. Features shapes of some continents and three words: one, chance and world. Illegible signature in the decorative details. Finished pontil mark on bottom.
Found in Washington State, home of the renowned Pilchuck School, founded by Dale Chihuly. We have many accomplished glass blowers here. Unfortunately I have little information about this piece other than it is well-made and intriguing.
The expression "one chance world" poetically fits the unique nature of studio art glass. Because these items are hand-formed while molten, no two ever inherit the exact same pattern, making each piece a literal one-of-a-kind creation in the world.
