Add a magnificent touch of exotic grandeur to your interior with this exceptional pair of Mid-20th Century Hollywood Regency Elephant Urn Lamps.
Crafted from heavy, substantial art porcelain, each base features sculptural elephant heads in relief, expertly coated in a rich, reflective metallic gold glaze. The distinctive dimpled surface treatment is masterfully executed to mimic the luxurious aesthetic of hammered brass, complete with an antiquing wash that beautifully enhances the depth and crevices of the ceramic work.
A standout feature of this set is the inclusion of their custom-tailored, period-correct empire lampshades from Artemis Studios. The deep charcoal/black fabric shades are meticulously structured with deep accordion pleating and beautifully finished with hand-stitched gold gimp and scalloped metallic braid trim on the borders. The lamps are anchored by carved black cast-metal rings detailed with a subtle faux-bamboo motif, providing exceptional stability and structural weight. The presentations are crowned with ornate cast-brass Chinese Shou-symbol finials representing longevity and good health.
Both lamps feature their original vintage Leviton sockets (Made in USA) and have been safely verified and rewired with modern brown cords and new plastic strain relief nuts for safety compliance. Standing at an impressive 37.75 inches tall, this cohesive, collector-grade statement lighting pair is in excellent unaltered vintage condition and ready for immediate showroom or residential display.
Collector's Note on Scarcity: While mid-century ceramic elephant fixtures do exist, finding this exact monumental urn silhouette combined with an all-over dimpled texture and black faux-bamboo cast-metal bases is exceptionally difficult. Furthermore, locating a perfectly preserved, functional matching pair that retains its custom, period-correct Artemis Studios pleated shades is incredibly scarce. This showroom-grade presentation is an ideal acquisition for a serious collector or an interior designer seeking a singular, high-impact design statement.

Overall Status: Excellent vintage condition. The pair presents beautifully as a cohesive, showroom-ready set with minimal cosmetic wear consistent with age and careful residential use. 1. Ceramic Urn Bodies Structural Integrity: The high-glaze ceramic vessels are completely structurally sound. There are no structural cracks, hairline fractures, or deep impact chips anywhere on the bodies or the relief-sculpted elephant heads. Glaze and Finish: The reflective, metallic gold faux-brass glaze remains bright and highly vibrant. There is zero evidence of widespread glaze flaking, bubbling, or peeling. A microscopic inspection along the lower rim reveals only a few isolated, tiny glaze nicks or fleabites, which are completely typical of vintage kiln-fired art porcelain and remain unnoticeable during standard display. 2. Weighted Cast-Metal Bases Material Condition: The black-painted cast-metal faux-bamboo base rings are entirely intact. They show no signs of metal fatigue, cracking, warping, or oxidation. Surface Finish: The black decorative finish is in very good shape, retaining its intentional satin luster. Minor scuffing or surface rubbing is restricted to the lowest ground-contact edges and underside lips, which are invisible when the lamps are upright. 3. Custom Artemis Studios Lampshades Fabric and Structure: The charcoal-gray fabric accordion-pleated empire shades remain highly taut with excellent structural symmetry. There are no crushed pleats, puncture holes, major stains, or structural crushing. Trim and Stitching: The hand-stitched gold gimp trim and scalloped metallic accent braids are secure along all upper and lower borders. There is no major fraying, unravelling, or dry-rotting of the thread. Hardware and Liners: The spider washers, inner wire frames, and interior white liners are clean and sound, showing only light age-appropriate patina to the metal framework. 4. Wiring and Hardware Setup Electrical Safety: Both lamps have been professionally serviced for modern compliance. They feature updated, flexible brown SPT-2 style zip-cords paired with tight plastic strain-relief nuts. Sockets and Controls: The vintage brass Leviton turnkey sockets (Made in USA, rated 250W/250V) are fully operational. The turn-switches actuate with a crisp, firm mechanical click. Finials and Harps: The ornate, cast-brass Chinese Shou-symbol finials and matching harps screw on flush and securely lock the shades into a stable, level position.
