Artist: Marcel Jacno
Marcel Jacno (1904 - 1989) was a self taught graphic artist from France, most popularly known for designing the cigarette pack displayed in this poster. Along with the Gauloises cigarettes, Jacno designed the logo for the Théâtre Nationale Populaire in Paris. In fact, after a notable success with the logo, Jacno worked for the theatre company for a while as a resident graphic artist. Jacno also wrote several pieces on typography and graphic art, and believed that even commerical art could and should be "l'art vivant" ("living art") rather than wholly dependent on popular trends.
This unlined poster is in excellent condition, and refers to an exhibition of Jacno's work at the Musée de la Publicité.
