We'll save you from going too far down the rabbit hole. Apparently Quinquina is a French term for quinine, which is an ingredient in the earliest form of tonic water, and legend has it originated from the British time in India, where they discovered that the grains from juniper berries could counterbalance the effects of spicy Indian food on delicate British tummies. Or then you will find another legend that corrects this and informs us that the juniper berry was part of Gin, and needed to be mixed with quinine grains and seltzer water to settle those tummies. Then they learned that they enjoyed this combination of medications and wanted to drink this combination, the Gin and Tonic, even when they were not sick.
Do not take any medicine unless prescribed.
Now for this beautiful apothecary bottle. You used to be able to go to a pharmacy and tell them what you wanted. Here is a rather large amber colored apothecary bottle with copper colored metal lid.
