Hand-crafted in the 19th century, most likely English, the rare large Chinoiserie elephant figurine naturalistically modeled in a standing pose with gently staggered legs lending a sense of movement. Nicely detailed, head facing forward with large sculpted ears, tusks, depicted holding stylized trunk downward and in, which represents life and the ability to conquer obstacles.

Beautifully colorful, highly decorative, sculptural, and interesting, quickly add a splash of artistic Bohemian eclectic design, whimsical shabby chic elegance and cozy romantic warmth to any space!

Condition:
Great original antique condition with nicely aged patina over the whole.

Solid, sturdy, stable, and structurally sound. Presents well, with age appropriate wear including highly desirable crazing - crackle - craquelure throughout. Minor chipping especially to unglazed feet, possibly very minor imperfections to the faux hand painted transferware and glazed finish, nothing that detracts from the display, but only adds to the overall authenticity, charm, and rich historical depth that can only be acquired over very long periods of time!
