Metlox introduced Woodland Gold, pattern number 560, in 1959. The pattern was one of seventy patterns Metlox produced within the Poppytrail Collection. The collection itself debuted in 1934 and continued until Metlox closed its doors in 1989 for good, after 62 years of operating in Manhattan Beach, California. These whimsical coupe bowls were made in the traditional shape, a studio potter's effect with the addition of a raised ring pattern on the interior and smooth exteriors. Medium is earthenware in a soft linen or ecru shade sprinkled with random speckles; hand painted oak leaf and acorn motif consists of muted shades of ochre, cadmium orange, pistachio and cocoa brown. Each bowl measures 6¾” x 1¾” D/H; 2 cup liquid capacity per bowl; together the set weighs 5 lbs. 10 oz. In excellent condition with minimal use wear; makers mark on the underside of each bowl. A fabulous set for a collector of the Woodland Gold pattern or the perfect gift for someone who is.
