The table shows the … Read more A fine and beautiful antique rosewood rococo revival centre/hall table with two drawers. English, Circa 1850.

The table shows the graceful curving lines of Rococo Revival which was popular in England in 1840-1860. The shaped stretchers are surmounted by a central twin handled urn, the handles being carved in the form of branches. Pierced basket and finial below, and standing on brass castors. The top and frieze are veneered over solid wood, the top having highly figured rosewood book match veneers, with a cross banded edge. The rest is made in solid Santos rosewood.

The table is in excellent condition, the top has been re-finished, retaining a few light authentic marks to highlight its genuine heritage. The rest of the table has been cleaned and waxed.

The drawers have solid mahogany interiors with fine handmade dovetail construction. There is a slight opening to one of the base joins, you should be able to make this out in photograph number 15. See less
