This is a set of 4 French antique botanical chromolithographs of red roses that date to 1885. They came from an unbound album, Le Livre d'Or des Roses (Golden Book of Roses) published in Paris. Each is a numbered plate which comes with an accompanying paper denoting the artist, the name of the rose and its founding date and founder. The set of 4 are in PRISTINE antique condition consistent with age and history. Strong color, no rips or tears, clean edges. Each is done on thick stippled paper which lends a wonderful quality and interest to the chromolithograph. Zoom in to see this. Note the beauty of the large size of the blossoms and the vibrant strong rose-RED coloring. (The coloring of the roses is most accurate and best seen in the individual rose plates and the texture and depth of print process is easily seen on the individual images as well). Each rose is noted in the documentation as a "hybrid" rose. They are indeed RARE beauties and the 4 as a set make for wonderful wall décor! Each is 12.5 x 9
.5 inches in size. Each comes matted in a neutral tone 16 x 20 inch custom mat ready for a standard size frame. Please allow time for custom matting. See other rose chromos in our shop.
