74288 Extra-Long Antique Persian Mashhad Runner, 05'07 x 21'04. Rich in color, texture and beguiling ambiance, this hand knotted wool antique Persian Mashhad rug runner beautifully displays timeless elegance and regal charm. The midnight navy blue field is covered in a frenzied garden and lush botanical display composed of palmettes, leafy curled tendrils, blooming lotus, rosette roundels, feathers, acanthus leaves, and stylized florals. The detail of every flower, leaf and vine scroll reveals an astonishing level of precision seamlessly melding into this idyllic design scheme, allowing each stately floral to be expressed with elegance. It is enclosed with a classic Herati border flanked with inner and outer carnation meander guard bands.
The border is signed with an Inscribed Cartouche Kufic of Islamic calligraphy.
This Mashhad runner has been reduced in size at one point in time because it was custom-made to fit, but to the untrained eye you will not notice.
