A striking early 20th-century Anglo-Indian bone-inlaid throne armchair, handcrafted in India as an elaborate statement chair. The sculptural wooden frame features a high oval medallion back, an ornate floral crest, scrolling open arms, a shaped apron and carved legs.

The chair is extensively decorated with individually cut bone inlay arranged in intricate floral, foliate and scrolling vine patterns. The warm ivory-colored inlay contrasts beautifully with the dark wooden ground and rich brown upholstered seat and back, emphasizing the chair’s dramatic throne-like silhouette.

Inspired by Anglo-Indian and Mughal decorative traditions, this Indian bone-inlay armchair would make an exceptional accent chair in a living room, library, dressing room, bedroom or entry hall. Its highly decorative presence also complements Moorish, Moroccan, maximalist and globally inspired interiors.
