The large gilt lip has a band of gold and maroon chevrons and a band of gold and maroon lappets below. The neck is flanked by two finely carved, maroon, Chi dragon handles with gold highlights, and has one auspicious Chinese character cartouche between the handles on each side. The body of the vase is covered, front and back, with finely painted, realistic, groupings of the Eight Buddhist Immortals, Three Patrons and Five Ancient Lords, amid fluffy red clouds and an auspicious maroon and gold cartouche on each side. The extended foot is decorated with a maroon and gold, ice ray lattice band, and a chevron band below matching the one at the lip. A light blue, four character, Qianlong, reign mark within double squares is glazed to the inset base and is surrounded by branching chrysanthemums in a gold glaze. The finely carved, traditional, Chinese, hongmu, scroll ends, rectangular stand is included. Circa early 20th century, no later than mid century.
