Overview:
Based on research and similar sales, these appear to be hand-painted lithograph portraits of Napoleon Bonaparte in variations of the French military uniform (in both pieces). The pieces are framed by Borghese and have the classic Borghese sticker on the back of each frame.
Dimensions:
Frame: 7.25" W x 8.25" H x 1" D
Art: 4.5" W x 5.5" H
Details:
> Each piece has a gilt frame and paper backing
> Black paint around the portrait is reverse painted on the inside of the glass. There are four stars in each corner where the paint was purposely left out.
> Each piece has a round metal loop at the top for hanging
> Each piece weights about 1.15 pounds
Condition: Paper backing shows signs of wear consistent with age as does front of frame, with a few nicks here and there, but it simply adds character. (please see photos) Smoke-free home. less
