Late 20th century Canadian studio pottery plate by Eva Gordon, featuring a beautifully modeled trompe-l’œil bundle of white scallions (green onions) tied with a ribbon and rendered in high relief at the center of a softly scalloped cream-glazed platter. Eva Gordon is a Canadian ceramic artist known for her sculptural fruit and vegetable plates, celebrated for their realism, craftsmanship, and playful yet refined aesthetic. The sculptural onions are hand-formed with curling roots, layered glazes, and richly shaded green tops, creating a true three-dimensional still life that rises from the surface of the plate. The subtle variations in glaze and form reflect the multi-stage studio process typical of Gordon’s work and give the piece wonderful depth and character. The plate is hand-signed “Eva Gordon” in green glaze on the front and retains its original “Made in Canada” label on the reverse, confirming its studio origin. At 10.5 inches in diameter, it displays beautifully on a wall, in a cabinet, or as a decorative accent in a kitchen or dining space. This example pairs perfectly with her other vegetable subjects, including carrot, garlic, and radish plates, and is highly collectible within the world of late 20th century studio ceramics and trompe-l’œil design.
*Please note that I also have her carrot plate. Thx!
