This really is a Great Looking Antique American Country Primitive Stoneware Jug. Circa Late 19th Century. Small - Very Desirable 1 Gallon Size. These Small 1 Gallon Size Jugs with Oversize Decoration are Becoming Very Difficult to Find These Days. It has a Beautiful Large Blue Hand Decorated Stylized Flower Design on the front. It is Embossed with the Well Documented CHARLESTOWN - BOSTON MASSACHUSETTS Makers Name - EDMONDS & Co. These type of Jugs were Commonly Used to Store a Variety of Liquids - Spirits - Liquor - Ciders - Vinegar - Spring Water Etc. It is in Very Good Cosmetic - Strong and Sound all Original Condition - Displays Very Nicely. It Does Have an Assortment of Glaze and Surface Imperfections - Spots - Discoloration Etc. These Would have Occurred in the Kiln or During the Actual Firing Process or as a Result of Age and Use. Note! that it has Some Blue Drips on the Handle. These Drips would have Occurred as a the Result of Some of the Other Pieces that were Stacked on the Above Racks. The American Stoneware Makers Used Large Kilns and Their Products were Fired in Batches with Many Other Pieces at the Same Time. They were Made for Utilitarian Purposes and These Types of Imperfections are Quite Common in American Stoneware Made During this Period.
It Measures 12 inches Tall x 8 inches Long x 7 1/2 inches Wide.
