Original antique etching by Rembrandt van Rijn titled Woman Bathing Her Feet in a Brook. Etching, Presented in archival matte and framed in a contemporary frame c.1658. Image and plate size 162x81 mm; 6 1/2 x 3 1/4 inches, small margins. Usticke's first state (l) (of 2), with inky plate edges and with very little wear in the densely cross-hatched areas and the most delicately etched lines. A superb, richly-inked impression. Catalogs Bartsch 200; Biörklund 58-D; Hollstein (White and Boon) 200.
During the course of a long career Rembrandt produced nine etchings of nudes, conducting a searching analysis of the feminine form. Rembrandt was an extremely innovative printmaker who experimented continuously.
