A wonderful antique circa early 1900s copper lidded gratin dish with tin lining made by Joseph Heinrichs. Joseph Heinrichs made and sold very high quality cookware through such well regarded retailers as Tiffany & Co, and directly to many of the finest restaurants and hotels from 1897-1937... In the past we have had Joseph Heinrichs pieces from the Waldorf Astoria, The Plaza, and a number of other fine restaurants and hotels. This particular piece was made for the St. Regis Hotel in New York City!
Beautifully made, in amazing condition for its age, very small surface marks and scratches to the copper but no dents or damage, it sits flat. The dish would have originally had a sterling silver lining, but had been tinned at some point in the past. The dish has been polished inside and out; with a new hand-wiped tin lining.
Measures 8.5 inches across the handles, 6 inches wide across the top opening, by 2.5 inches deep. Weighs a bit over 2.5 pounds.
