Meunier was a French illustrator whose career flourished in the Art Deco years, 1920’s and 1930’s. She is best known for her boudoir illustrations of nude and semi-nude female drawings. She was acclaimed as a female artist during a time when male artists dominated this genre of art. Examples of her work are increasingly more collectable as they are limited and more difficult to find. This image was recently purchased by us in Paris. RARE to find now. Her illustrations are soft and gentle and showcase the beauty of the feminine body. At the same time they are subtle, playful, flirtatious and fun. This image is entitled "L'ombrelle japonaise" (Japanese Umbrella) It was an insert in the magazine from the time. It is original to 1927 and NOT a recent reproduction. Signed in the lithograph stone. Excellent, clean condition. Clean borders. The print is 8 x 12 inches in size. Comes with acid free backing. See less
