Franck Taylor Bowers (1875-1932), was the son of Lamont Bowers, the financial advisor to John D. Rockefeller, and grew up in a wealthy Victorian environment. Bowers lived in Broome County, NY and had a passion for the arts. Because of his passion, he became an artist and photographer.
The subject of this pencil sketch is Josiah Bonsell (approx 1819-1903). He was a staff member of the artists family in Broome county New York. He was a Veteran of the Civil War, having served in the 26th colored infantry.
Framed, this measures 20.25" x 17.25", art measures 12.5" x 10".
