This pair of modernist ‘constructivist’ three dimensional works feature cut out panels that have been painted in oil and assembled. The artist has used stripped down, geometric forms and modest materials. They are a fine example of technical mastery and the organisation of material. Here the role of the artist as ‘painter’ has been re-imagined – the artist is an engineer wielding tools instead of a painter holding a brush.
