Chinese porcelain Da Ya Zhai crane medallions haitangzun, the body of the vase has an imperial yellow glaze, the interior … Read more Chinese porcelain Da Ya Zhai crane medallions haitangzun, the body of the vase has an imperial yellow glaze, the interior and the inset base have a turquoise glaze, all covered with fine, small pattern, iron wire craquelure. The lip has a white glaze. A red and white Da Ya Zhai mark within a vertical rectangle is glazed just below the flange of the neck, and a red Tian Di Yi Jia Chun oval cartouche is glazed at the waist. The body and neck of the vase are decorated with copious polychrome double peach and crane medallions, leafy red and white double peaches and blue Shou characters with double plum flowers. The upper neck has a blue band bracketed by black trim circles with a necklace of polychrome, Ru Yi lappets below. The bottom of the vase is encircled by a band of rectangular Ru Yi lappets, above the extended foot, which is decorated with a band of floral medallions. A red and white four character Yong Qing Chan Chun reign mark is glazed to the inset base. The finely, carved, traditional, Chinese, hongmu, circular stand is included. Circa early 20th century no later than mid century.

The mark Da Ya Zhai (Studio of the Greater Odes) has been associated with the Dowager Empress Cixi.
