About the Artist
Fernando Llort, as he was known, was a Salvadoran artist, often dubbed "El Salvador's National Artist" by the Foundation for Self Sufficiency in Central America.
As reflected in his exuberant artwork, Llort was a man of passion, spirituality, religion, community, and idealism.
His artwork is predominately imagery, often local scenery and religious iconography, that are hand-painted upon fired, three dimensional pottery, and finished with a high gloss glaze.
Many of his designs use an abstract interpretation of his native Salvadoran countryside, with religious and spiritual iconography.
