In unusually good condition, this striking octagonal handled box sitting on ball feet has an inner lift out tray compartment and a drawer below with a fitted interior and small writing slope. The key does not lock the box, but it serves as a handle to open the drawer. The lacquer scenes are the highlight: very intricate landscapes and decorative borders fill the entire surface. Large scale stable craquelure to the lacquer and some small frits/restoration at the edges, light wear to the gilding.
