The neck is banded at the top with a thin, black, trim ring and has a stepped ring below the lip and at the flange, the neck and body of the vase are decorated with two, finely drawn, four-clawed, sky dragons in finely shaded umber and sepia glazes with gilt highlights amid finely painted, white and sepia, leafy, herbal flowers, detailed in gold highlights, all in low relief. Another stepped ring bands the top of the extended foot, which is also banded with a thin, black trim ring. A red, Da Ya Zhai mark and a red and white, Tian Di Yi Jia Chun medallion are glazed just below the neck flange. A red and white, Yong Qing Chan Chun, Guangxu mark is glazed to the inset base. The finely carved, traditional, Chinese, hongmu, stand is included. Circa Republic of China era, no later than mid century.

Vase: 10 1/2" high x 5 1/4" diameter

Stand: 1 1/2" high x 4 3/4" diameter.

5 Chinese herbals: chrysanthemum flower (ju hua), campus flower (ling Xiao hua), celosia flower (ji guan hua), safflower (hong hua), and, the much beloved, rose bud (mei gui hua).

Dayazhai: (Studio of the Greater Odes) found on imperial porcelain commissioned by the Qing Empress Dowager Cixi.
