Here is a vintage black lacquer console table in a postmodern meets Chinoiserie design. It functions as a lighted display … more Here is a vintage black lacquer console table in a postmodern meets Chinoiserie design. It functions as a lighted display case as well as console table. The top features two smoked glass inset panels with beveled edges on the glass. The middle interior shelf is 3 pieces of clear glass held in place by small translucent shelf brackets at the edges of the glass. The bottom shelf contains the source of light for the cabinet via a hidden halogen bulb that lies beneath two newly replaced large panels of white frosted inset glass. The entirety of the inside back of the cabinet is mirrored to reflect light and the objects it holds for display. There are two cabinet doors on the front with brass chinoiserie style handles.
This is a beautiful piece of furniture as sourced but also serves as a perfect starting canvas for customization with new lacquer/gloss paint to suit your style. Condition shows its varied previous life with age-appropriate scrapes and wear to the finish, authenticating its vintage.
This furniture was sourced from a 1962 Frank Lloyd Wright style home in the affluent Madison Park area of Seattle. It was full of objects with character and artistic flair from the 1960's through the 1990's.
Attributed to Lane or similar furniture makers of the era.
It is marked "Made in USA" on the back panel. less
