Graceful ribbed arms reach forward curling under tapering to the wooden seat with motifs just below and legs curled in at feet.

A Victorian Carved Mahogany Griffin Motif Savonarola Chair made in the United States in the late 18th Century. This Chair would look stunning displayed in an array of interior styles. The solid mahogany shows a drastic grain throughout accompanied by a deep finish. The chair boasts a traditional Savonarola design is complimented by a carved scroll and floral back rest in a throne shape, along with two heavily carved griffin heads along each side. The lower base of chair offers ornate detail, work tapering down to swirled feet.



She is in lovely condition for her age, arms slightly worn, scratching to seat and bottom left side embellishments absent.

Measuring 25.5 across, 22" depth, 40.5" height with sitting height of 16", arm height of 26". See less
