Amazing piece of history am- probably saved from a temple in China during the communist revolution in the mid 2Oth century when temple artifacts were destroyed as religion was no longer permitted. It is a heavy piece, around 40 pounds and hand carved from a solid piece of wood, then painted in red and gilded. Mounted in black metal base. See less
