Markings … Read more Manufactured in 1948 by Christian Becker in New York in a light finished hardwood, and precision machined brass components. Markings show that this was used in the NYU Chemistry Lab at the time. Fully functional scale with balance beam and lever operated pan holders. Vertical sliding glass access door have a latch that locks in place. Built for use by jewelers, laboratories and apothecaries. Extremely accurate and includes a storage drawer with covers to house sets of brass weights and handling tools included. (See photos). In excellent condition with minimal evidence of use. The case shows some period wear and patina, consistent with age and use. Various adjusting knobs on the exterior of the case including two adjustable balance feet used to achieve perfect level.

This is a beautifully crafted and accurate scientific instrument, as well as being a gorgeous accent piece. See less
