We were very pleased to acquire this old Chinese tiered /step style display table or plant stand made from old … Read more We were very pleased to acquire this old Chinese tiered /step style display table or plant stand made from old mature ebony dark brown hongmu / blackwood - a rare rosewood. This heavy hard wood is also know as black gold, Hongmu - and is sought after by collectors of such.
The wood has attained a rich dark brown / ebony colour. Beautiful hand carved sides with simple elegant legs.
Two lower stepped tiers and lower shelf.
Great for plants (in waterproof trays) or ornaments/lamps.
There is acceptable wood shrinkage as per photographs. See condition description/arrows on photographs. This piece ticks all the right boxes as far as Blackwood goes.
A beautiful piece of old very traditional Chinese furniture.
Late 19th/Early 20th Century.
