One is a drawing and the other is an early photograph. They come from an extensive French portfolio of 4 volumes, "Encyclopedie de la Plante", an “artistique” and “documentaire” collection of botanical prints. This Beaux-Arts collection was originally used for edification and research on plants from throughout the world. Together these 2 are a get set. The drawing details the structure and form of the fern as it evolves in early spring into its full foliage. Note the extensive accurate detailing. The photograph showcases the fern in full form as we know it. The botanicals are done in warm neutral green-gray tones. Excellent, clean, pristine. 11.75 x 15.5.
