A handsome and rare pair of Staffordshire mantle Spaniel dogs that were fabricated sometime around 1880. Both dogs have their glass eyes intact which is a highly prized attribute to the Staffordshire collector. They are of a grand size and present well.
These would make a great addition to a collection, or a nice foundation pair.

- This pair of dogs are in good antique condition, however, they have wear that is consistent with age. The gilt … moreThis pair of dogs are in good antique condition, however, they have wear that is consistent with age. The gilt of both dog's collars and chains are faded. There are inconsistencies with the glazed coloring,, and a few glaze "pops" that occurred in the original firing. There is a glaze crack along the spine of the left dog (pictured). There is paint loss at the top of the right dogs head (pictured) that occurred in the original firing. Most of the condition issues are to be expected with Staffordshire dogs of this period and do not detract. Please reach out for additional photos or questions. I am happy to answer. less
