Found in the South of France, this Early 20th Century Order of Maritime Merit Certificate is framed in wood and dates to 1931. These types of certificates were presented to members of the French Military.
The certificate loosely translates as follows:
Order of Maritime Merit
The minister of the Merchant Navy certifies that by decree dated Jan. 22, 1931 the President of the French Republic conferred on Mr. Jean Garbuccia Master Greaser Marsielle 06458. The decoration of Knight of the Order of Maritime Merit
Done in Paris on the 24th of Jan 1931. Signed with a rasied seal by head of the cabinet office and the Minister of the Merchant Navy
