The central scene depicts a Dutch village gathered around a church beside the water, framed by scrolling foliage, heart-shaped flourishes, and a crosshatched border at the neck.

The painterly variation in the blue decoration and subtle crazing beneath the glaze give the piece an appealing handmade character. At just under ten inches high, it is an easy scale for a mantel, bedside chest, bookcase, or breakfast-room table, either displayed alone or holding a few garden stems.

Its familiar blue-and-white palette allows it to move easily between English country, French country, cottage, and coastal traditional interiors.
