The box itself is a black lacquered wooden rectangle with a high relief floral motif on the top made from various types of genuine stones. It closes with an etched bronze latch and has a lock. When opened it reveals a bright pink satin brocade lining with one large storage compartments and a row of ring storage on the side. It is a musical box and plays a soft tune when opened. The winding devise to activate the music is on the underside.
