"A Republican Belle - A Picture of Paris for 1794" Etching by Isaac Cruikshank. Satirical etching by Isaac Cruikshank c.1794. This print shows an old woman in ragged dress, her arms folded as she fires a pistol at a man lying on the ground. Her dress shows a scull and crossbones pattern. She holds a dagger, and claws come out of her shoes. At a tavern in the background, men are smoking pipes and bowling with skulls.
This is a very graphic satirical political statement by Cruikshank. Dimensions 8" x 10 1/2". The simple ebonized frame measures 10 1/2" x 14". Good antique condition w/ minor chip in frame.
