A striking vintage porcelain tiger by Royal Dux, produced in former Czechoslovakia and modelled in a lively stalking pose.

The tiger is rendered naturalistically, with an elongated body, tense legs and a slightly raised head. Its open mouth and attentive expression enhance the sense of movement, giving the animal an alert and almost majestic presence.

The glossy glazed porcelain is decorated in warm shades of ochre, cream and brown. Black stripes follow the contours of the body, emphasising the muscular shoulders, back and legs. Fine detailing around the eyes, muzzle, claws and coat adds further character to the sculpture.

Royal Dux was established in 1853 in Duchcov, historically known as Dux, and became internationally recognised for its decorative porcelain and sculptural figures. Throughout the 20th century, the factory produced an extensive collection of naturalistically modelled animal sculptures.

The underside is marked. Based on its model and execution, we cautiously date this tiger to approximately the 1960s–1970s.

Its elongated silhouette makes the figure particularly attractive on a sideboard, wall cabinet, bookshelf or central display. A stylish collector’s object for enthusiasts of vintage porcelain, animal figures and mid-century decoration.

In excellent vintage condition, without chips, cracks or restorations.
