A substantial, Post-Impressionist harbor scene showing a sun-drenched view of the Port of Vendres in the South of France with sailing boats moored to the wharves and a view beyond towards terracotta roofs against verdant, green hills, all beneath a late sunset sky. A bright and breezy, full-size (24 x 30 inch) giclée of the artist's original oil painting, modeled after the 1905 work by André Derain (French, 1880-1954), now held in the permanent collection of the Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg, Russia.
This Post-Impressionist and Abstract Expressionist artist studied at the Esalen Institute with Erin Gafill and Tom Birmingham and, later, at the Santa Cruz Art League. Ant McNaught lived, painted and made music in Santa Cruz, California.
