An intriguing pair of 18th century porcelain plates
All hand painted medallions rendering named portraits in profile of Hercules, the Greek Mythology hero, immortalized by Home, and Sappho, one of the greatest poets in classical literature, called "The Poetess" in the times when Homer was called "The Poet"

Clearly marked underglaze with blue letter F for Furstenberg Porcelain Manufacture of Lower Saxony, Germany
Fürstenberg Porcelain Factory (Porzellanmanufactur Fürstenberg) was created in 1745 and produced some of the finest German porcelain pieces, competing in quality with Meissen, Ludwigsburg and Frankenthal
Circa 1770-1780
Most likely these plates were once a part of Ancient Greek Mythology related series, scarce to find nowadays and highly collectible
