- Fully restored. Rather than etching the bare zinc surface with muriatic acid and sulfur to achieve the green/brown hues typically … moreFully restored. Rather than etching the bare zinc surface with muriatic acid and sulfur to achieve the green/brown hues typically seen on these tops (the reason for which they are frequently mistaken for copper - the only copper Lunstead ever used was copper foil on room dividers), I used other acidic substances and techniques to achieve a "salty" or "crusty" look that preserved the silver tone of the zinc but gave it patina and texture reminiscent of a topographical map. The top has been sealed with lacquer and topped with wax for extra protection, and the walnut base in which it sits has been refinished. less
